KISS - "Killers" (1982)
"Killers" LP came out the same year as "Creatures of The Night" and it was a very good effort by KISS.
"Killers" is not just another album in KISS discography. It is special for a few reasons.
First, it is one of the best KISS compilations ever. The music is awesome.
The record contains the well-known tracks, greatest hits available on other albums (I Was Made for Lovin' You,
Love Gun, Detroit Rock City, Shout it Out Loud, Rock and Roll All Night, God of Thunder).
Undoubtedly, they are a value added to this production.
But, it is also exceptional for the four songs which cannot be reached anywhere but on this LP
(I'm a Legend Tonight, Down on Your Knees, Nowhere to Run, Partners in Crime).
In my opinion, the best of these four tracks are I'm a Legend Tonight and Partners in Crime.
But, the other two Nowhere to Run and Down on Your Knees are fairly good.
Second, it is the only LP by KISS missing its original logo on the cover.
The compilation was issued exclusively in Germany, outside the US. Surprisingly, KISS usual logo which contained the lightning bolts
("infamous SS") was forbidden in that country due to the historical reasons.
Third, only on the covers of "Killers" and "Creatures of The Night" Eric Carr's mask (representing "Fox") appears.
It will be no longer visible on the front pages of their forthcoming CDs.
Furthermore, between 1980 and 1990, it was the last opportunity to admire KISS musicians with their faces painted.
The lyrics of the songs concern four topics:
- love, sex and loneliness (I Was Made for Lovin' You, Down on Your Knees, Sure Know Something, Love Gun, Nowhere to Run)
- fame and infamy (I'm a Legend Tonight, Partners in Crime)
- rock & roll and the impact it has on people from different walks of life (Detroit Rock City, Shout it Out Loud, Rock & Roll All Night, God of Thunder)
- alcohol abuse (Cold Gin).
KISS - "Zabójcy" (1982)
Płyta "Killers" ("Zabójcy") wyszła w tym samym roku co "Creatures of The Night" ("Nocne stwory") i dowiodła, że KISS są
w bardzo dobrej formie. "Killers" ("Zabójcy") to nie tylko kolejny album w dyskografii KISS. Ma on szczególny charakter
z kilku powodów.
Po pierwsze, jest to jedna z najlepszych kompilacji KISS, jakie kiedykolwiek powstały. Muzyka zawarta na niej jest fantastyczna.
Płyta zawiera dobrze znane, największe hity kapeli, które są dostępne na innych albumach (I Was Made for Loving You,
Love Gun, Detroit Rock City, Shout it Out Loud, Rock and Roll All Night, God of Thunder).
Niewątpliwie kawałki te podnoszą wartość tego wydawnictwa. Jednak krążek jest także wyjątkowy z powodu czterech utworów, które
nie są osiągalne na innych płytach (I'm a Legend Tonight, Down on Your Knees, Nowhere to Run, Partners in Crime).
Według mnie najlepszymi spośród tej czwórki są kawałki I'm a Legend Tonight i Partners in Crime.
Jednak pozostałe dwa Nowhere to Run i Down on Your Knees są dość dobre.
Po drugie, jest to jedyny longplay KISS, którego okładka nie zawiera oryginalnego logo zespołu. Kompilację wydano tylko w Niemczech, poza
Stanami Zjednoczonymi. Co zaskakujące, używanie w mediach powszechnie znanego logo KISS, które zawierało SS w kształcie piorunów ("cieszący się złą sławą symbol SS") było zabronione w tym kraju z powodów historycznych.
Po trzecie, tylko na okładkach płyt "Killers" i "Creatures of The Night" widniaje maska Erica Carr (przedstawiająca "Lisa").
Nie będzie już można jej ujrzeć na okładkach ich następnych krążków CD.
Ponadto, w latach 1980-1990 była to ostatnia możliwość podziwiania muzyków KISS z pomalowanymi twarzami.
Teksty piosenek na tej płycie dotyczą czterech tematów:
- miłości, seksu i samotności (I Was Made for Lovin' You, Down on Your Knees, Sure Know Something, Love Gun, Nowhere to Run)
