KISS - "LOVE GUN" (1977)
In 1977 KISS became the giants of rock. Their Japanese tour which encompassed four cities
was one of the most memorable events in the rock music history. In the "Land of Rising Sun"
the band actually gave the most explosive stage show the world could have ever seen.
After coming home to the U.S. the band began working on the seventh album.
The KISS musicians wanted their new album to resemble its predecessor ("Rock and Roll Over") but with more power added to it.
The seventh album "Love gun" was issued on June 30, 1977. Regarding the music content, "Love Gun"
was a great LP. It seemed that each of 10 tracks on the record met the expectations of all fans of
hard rock, but especially those who were quite demanding.
Gene Simmons wrote four powerful and lyrically absorbing songs (Christine Sixteen, Got Love for Sale,
Almost Human, Plaster Caster). The last of them might have attracted
attention of those journalists who were more into a rock 'n' roll lifestyle.
Taking into account the songs composed by Paul Stanley, Love Gun was exclusively regarded as the greatest hit.
However, two other tracks (I Stole Your Love, Tomorrow and Tonight)
added something like a bang to this production. It must be said that the only song created by Ace Frehley (Shock Me)
was very impressive.
Peter Criss and Stan Penridge managed to compose a
very good song about at-risk children and youth entitled Hooligan.
The album ends with a sentimental but fabulous song (Then She Kissed Me) which is
a team effort by Jeff Barry, Ellie Greenwich and Phil Spector. By means of this song
KISS made it through to the final. The group also confirmed its artistic value.
The lyrics of "Love Gun" are concentrated on:
- loneliness, love and sex, prostitution, child sexual abuse (I Stole Your Love, Christine Sixteen, Got Love for Sale, Love Gun, Shock Me, Then She Kissed Me);
- social and emotional maladjustment (Hooligan);
- werewolf fiction (Almost Human);
- rock and roll lifestyle (Tomorrow and Tonight, Plaster Caster).
KISS - "PISTOLET MIŁOŚCI" (1977)
W 1977 roku KISS zostali gigantami rocka. Ich trasa koncertowa w Japonii, która
obejmowała cztery miasta, była jednym z najbardziej zapadających w pamięć wydarzeń w historii
muzyki rockowej. W "Kraju Wschodzącego Słońca" kapela właściwie zagrała najbardziej
wystrzałowy koncert jaki można było kiedykolwiek zobaczyć. Po powrocie do USA zespół rozpoczął
pracę nad siódmym albumem. Muzycy KISS chcieli, aby ich nowy album przypominał swojego poprzednika
("Rock and Roll Over"), lecz chcieli, aby do tej produkcji dodać więcej tzw. "pałera".
Siódmy album "Love Gun" ("Pistolet miłości") wydano 30 czerwca 1977 roku.
Mając na względzie zawartość muzyczną "Love Gun" to była świetna płyta. Wydawało się, że
każdy z 10 kawałków na tym krążku spełnił oczekiwania wszystkich fanów hard rocka, ale zwłaszcza tych, którzy
byli raczej wymagający.
Gene Simmons napisał cztery czadowe i interesujące tekstowo piosenki (Christine Sixteen, Got Love for Sale,
Almost Human, Plaster Caster). Ostatnia spośród nich mogła przyciągnąć uwagę
tych dziennikarzy, którzy bardziej interesowali się rock and rollowym stylem życia.
Mając na względzie utwory skomponowane przez Paula Stanleya, tylko Love Gun
uznano za wielki hit. Jednak dwie inne kompozycje (I Stole Your Love, Tomorrow and Tonight)
dodały czegoś w rodzaju "przysłowiowego kopa" tej produkcji. Należy stwierdzić, że jedyny utwór
autorstwa Ace'a Frehley'a (Shock Me) był imponujący.
Peter Criss i Stan Pendridge potrafili skomponować bardzo dobrą piosenkę na temat
dzieci i młodzieży zagrożonych patologią zatytułowaną Hooligan.
Album kończy się sentymentalną, ale wspaniałą piosenką (Then She Kissed Me), która
jest owocem zespołowego wysiłku Jeffa Barry'ego, Ellie Greenwich i Phila Spectora.
Za pomocą tej piosenki KISS dotarł aż do finału całej płyty. Grupa potwierdziła również swoją wartość
artystyczną.
