Second, the previous LP called "Music From The Elder" was not as successful as might be expected. So, the remaining KISS members: Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley and Eric Carr (his mask of Fox can be seen on the cover) accepted a new challenge. They longed for the renewed enthusiasm, power, pure heavy metal sound and glory of the past.
Unfortunately, "Creatures Of The Night", which came out in October 1982, aroused mixed feelings. On the one hand, it was regarded as the heaviest music stuff in the band's career. On the other hand, despite the album was awarded Gold, KISS popularity had declined in the U.S. But the band was more and more popular around the world. In South America KISS performed in front of the largest audiences in their history (200.000 people). Nevertheless, the musicians were forced to think the whole thing over. Eventually, KISS concluded that "Creatures of The Night" was a closed chapter in the history of their artistic activity. They also realized that what KISS needed badly was a new look, a new image and a new dimension.
